Hello, and welcome!

I’m Mary - artist, mom & design enthusiast based in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. As a kid, I had an innate curiosity for art and nature, and can remember immortalizing my surroundings on whatever scrap paper I could get my hands on. I find inspiration for my abstract waterscapes and marbled creations from my travels, dreams, colors themselves, and mostly, nature.

I work in a loose, fluid style consisting of numerous layers of media, resulting in pieces that are often described as both dreamy and captivating.

Rock formations, the sky, ocean currents, and florals all play an important part in my work, albeit abstracted to allow a freer expression. My goal as an artist has a lot to do with communicating energy through the combination of colors, light, and shapes. The aim is always to portray beauty in one of its manifestations. In my portfolio, you’ll find a juxtaposition of muted and vivid colors; the result of a push and pull between the need for both calm and a more vibrant energy.

I am grateful to have been able to study different art forms and techniques in a variety of cultural settings throughout my childhood and adult life, thanks both to growing up with adventurous parents and later marrying a military man. With a degree in Business Management, choosing art as a career was not something I had ever dreamed of, and it wasn’t until all three of my kids were in school that I was inspired to take up painting seriously again.

Following adventures in England and Japan, my three kids, husband and I have called Florida’s sunny Emerald Coast home for the past 10 years.
